To choose the right corporate gifting company Mumbai offices can rely on, check five things before you pay: a valid FSSAI licence you have verified yourself, a physical sample, a clear dispatch cut-off, honest allergen labelling, and packaging that survives a courier van on the Eastern Express Highway. Everything else, from the ribbon colour to the card, matters less than those five. Below is the checklist we would use ourselves, plus the questions worth asking any vendor before you sign off.
We pack hampers in Mahape MIDC, Navi Mumbai, so we see the vendor side of this every festive season. Typing "corporate gifting company Mumbai" into a search bar gives you hundreds of names. This guide is about narrowing them down fairly, not about ranking anyone.
Why the vendor matters more than the hamper
A hamper photo tells you very little. Two boxes that look the same online can arrive very differently: one with crisp cookies and a sealed jar, the other with crushed biscuits and a lid that leaked in transit. The difference is almost always the vendor's process, not the product list. When you send 50 or 500 boxes with your company name attached, one broken box reflects on you, not on the courier.
So treat the shortlist like any other procurement decision. Ask every corporate gifting company Mumbai has to offer the same questions, and compare the answers.
The corporate gift vendor checklist
Here is the full corporate gift vendor checklist in one table. Print it, share it with your admin or HR team, and fill in one column per vendor.
| What to check | How to check it | Green flag | Red flag |
|---|---|---|---|
| FSSAI licence (for food) | Search the number on FoSCoS | 14-digit number, name and address match the vendor | No number, or "registration in process" |
| Product sample | Ask for one box, or order one yourself | Arrives as pictured, fresh, well packed | Vendor refuses to show the physical product |
| Dispatch cut-off | Ask for the daily cut-off time in writing | A specific time, e.g. "orders before 5 PM ship same day" | "We'll try our best" |
| Delivery coverage | Give exact pincodes for Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane | Clear yes or no per area, plus outstation timelines | Vague answers about "all over India" |
| Allergen labelling | Read the label on the sample | Nuts, milk, gluten declared clearly | No ingredient list on inner items |
| Packaging durability | Shake the sample gently, check the outer carton | Items do not move, jars sealed | Loose fill, glass rattling |
| Invoicing and payment | Ask what documents you will receive | Answer matches your finance team's needs | Answers change between calls |
| Point of contact | Ask who handles problems after dispatch | A named person and a number | Only a generic form |
1. Verify the FSSAI licence yourself
If the hamper contains food, the vendor (or the brand making the food) must hold an FSSAI licence or registration. Do not stop at seeing a number on a website. Go to the official FSSAI FoSCoS portal, open the FBO Search option, enter the licence number and complete the captcha. The result should show the business name, the premises address and the licence status. FSSAI numbers are 14 digits, and since January 2022 food businesses have had to print them on bills and invoices too, as this guide to checking an FSSAI licence explains.
Ours, for example, is FSSAI Lic. No. 11520015000223. You can check it the same way you would check anyone else's. If a reseller is assembling hampers from several brands, ask for the licence of each food brand inside, not just the reseller's.
2. Hold a real box in your hands
Ask whether the vendor offers samples. If they do not, order a single hamper at retail price. Spending ₹800 to ₹1,600 on one box before committing to 100 is cheap insurance. Open it the way your recipient will. Check the first impression, taste the cookies, and look for anything your team would rather not send, such as alcohol for a mixed audience.
3. Get the dispatch cut-off in writing
"Fast delivery" means nothing. A cut-off time means a lot. Our own shipping policy, for instance, says orders placed before 5 PM IST ship the same day, and delivery outside Maharashtra usually takes 3 to 5 days. Ask every vendor for the equivalent. Then work backwards from your event. With Diwali on Sunday 8 November this year, a 3 to 5 day outstation window leaves less room than it seems.
4. Confirm delivery across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane
Mumbai's gifting map is really three cities. An office in Lower Parel, a plant in Taloja and a branch in Thane's Wagle Estate all sit on different routes. Give the vendor actual pincodes and ask, area by area, how they deliver and how long it takes. Most corporate gifts Navi Mumbai companies send also go to employees' homes in Kharghar, Panvel or Airoli, so include residential pincodes too if you are shipping to homes.
Also ask what happens if a recipient is not available, and who follows up. Small details like this decide whether 98 or 100 boxes reach people.
5. Read the allergen label, every time
This is the point most buyers skip. FSSAI's labelling rules require packaged food to declare major allergens, including peanuts and tree nuts, milk, gluten-containing cereals and soy, with a separate "may contain" statement where cross-contact is possible. Food Safety Works summarises the allergen list here. In a team of 200 people, it is very likely someone has a nut allergy.
Be upfront with your recipients. Every Good Graze hamper contains nuts, and we would rather say so plainly. A good vendor tells you this before you ask, so you can plan a different gift for those few people.
6. Test the packaging, not just the presentation
Pretty boxes fail in boring ways: a magnetic lid that pops open, a glass jar with no padding, cookies stacked loose. Check the outer shipping carton as well as the gift box. Ask how hampers are packed for courier and whether bulk orders go in master cartons. A simple test: if a box can be tipped on its side without anything shifting, it is ready for a courier.
7. Ask the invoicing and payment questions early
Finance teams usually have firm requirements, and it is far easier to sort them out before the order than after. Ask every vendor the same questions:
- What invoice or bill will we receive, and does it show your FSSAI number?
- Can the invoice carry our company's billing name and address?
- What are the payment terms: advance, part-advance, or on delivery?
- What happens if a box arrives damaged? Replacement, refund, or credit?
- Is pricing per hamper fixed, or does it change with quantity?
Get the answers confirmed by email or WhatsApp. A vendor who cannot answer clearly has told you something useful.
What a shortlist might look like
Once your vendors pass the checks above, the decision comes down to fit: budget, audience and what you want the gift to say. Your shortlist might include a dry-fruit box from a local mithaiwala you have used for years, a desk-friendly gift such as a plant or a good notebook, and a healthy snack hamper. Here are three of ours that suit corporate lists, with live prices and exact contents:
- Crimson Canopy Reserve Gourmet Client Hamper, ₹1,215: chatpata cashews, coffee cookies, oats and almond bites, and coconut chips. This is the one we would suggest for clients, because it is savoury and sweet in equal measure and feels generous without being showy.
- Emerald Canopy Healthy Snack Gift Hamper, ₹745: coconut chips, coffee cookies and peri peri almonds. A sensible pick for larger employee lists where the per-head budget is under ₹1,000.
- Midnight Bloom Grande Premium Gift Hamper, ₹1,605: coconut sugar, almond butterscotch ladoos, Oreo oats cookies, peri peri almonds, coconut chips and coconut millet pops. For senior leadership or long-standing partners.
The coconut in our chips and coconut sugar comes from the founder's family's ancestral estate in Sindhudurg, about 500 km from Mumbai, where the family has grown coconuts for five generations. All three hampers contain nuts. You can compare these with the rest of our corporate gift hampers collection.
For bulk or custom requirements, share your list on WhatsApp at +91 81049 05922 or email hello@goodgraze.in and we will confirm what we can do. We would rather tell you honestly than promise something we cannot deliver.
A simple timeline for placing the order
- Shortlist three or four vendors and send each the same questions from the checklist.
- Order or request a sample box from your top two and judge them side by side.
- Verify each FSSAI licence on FoSCoS and keep a screenshot for your records.
- Confirm quantities, pincodes and the dispatch date in writing.
- Ask for tracking details on dispatch and do a quick check-in call two days later.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check if a food gifting vendor's FSSAI licence is genuine?
Go to the official FoSCoS portal at foscos.fssai.gov.in, choose FBO Search and enter the 14-digit number. Check that the business name, address and status match what the vendor told you. If nothing comes up, ask the vendor to explain before you go further.
Should I always ask for a sample before a bulk corporate order?
Yes, if you are ordering more than a handful of boxes. If the vendor does not offer samples, buying one hamper at retail price is the simplest way to check freshness, taste and packaging. It costs far less than fixing a bad bulk order.
What should I ask a gifting vendor about delivery in Mumbai?
Ask for the daily dispatch cut-off time, the delivery coverage for your exact pincodes in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane, and the usual timeline for outstation addresses. Also ask how failed deliveries are handled and who your contact is after dispatch.
How do I handle nut allergies in a corporate hamper order?
Read the allergen declaration on every item, and ask the vendor directly whether the hampers contain nuts. Many gourmet hampers, including all of ours, do. Ask your HR team to flag any known allergies early so you can send a different gift to those colleagues.
