The best Diwali wishes for clients are short, warm and personal: one line of thanks for the year, one line of good wishes, and your name at the end. Below are 30 original messages you can copy and paste, grouped for clients, employees, your team, formal emails and quick WhatsApp notes. Change one detail in each before sending and it will read like your own.
When to send your Diwali wishes (2026 dates)
Diwali falls on Sunday, 8 November 2026, with Dhanteras on Friday, 6 November and Bhai Dooj on Tuesday, 10 November (dates as per Drik Panchang's 2026 Diwali calendar for New Delhi). Because Lakshmi Puja is on a Sunday this year, many offices are likely to hold their celebrations on Friday the 6th, so plan your messages around that.
| Who | Best day to send | Best channel | Length |
|---|---|---|---|
| Key clients | Wed 4 to Fri 6 Nov, with the gift | Email or handwritten note, then a WhatsApp follow-up | 3 to 4 lines |
| Other clients and vendors | Fri 6 or Sat 7 Nov | Email or WhatsApp | 1 to 2 lines |
| Employees (company-wide) | Thu 5 or Fri 6 Nov, before people leave | Email from the founder or MD | 4 to 6 lines |
| Your own team | Fri 6 Nov or on Diwali morning | Team chat or in person | 2 to 3 lines |
| Anyone on WhatsApp | Sun 8 Nov, morning | Direct message, not a forward | One line |
In our experience, messages sent on Diwali night get buried under forwards. A note that lands two days earlier, or arrives with a gift, gets read.
Diwali wishes for clients (8 messages)
For clients, thank them for something specific. "Thank you for your business" is fine. "Thank you for trusting us with the Pune launch" is remembered.
- Thank you for the trust you placed in us this year. Working with your team on [project] was one of our highlights. Wishing you and your family a bright and happy Diwali.
- As we light diyas this Diwali, we are grateful for partners like you. Here's to a prosperous year ahead, for your business and ours.
- Wishing you a Diwali full of light, good health and good news. Thank you for making this year a good one for us.
- Some clients make work feel easy. You are one of them. Happy Diwali to you and everyone at [company].
- May this Diwali bring your team new orders, new ideas and a well-deserved break. Thank you for another year together.
- A small token of thanks is on its way to you. We hope it adds a little sweetness to your Diwali. Warm wishes from all of us at [your company].
- Wishing you a joyful Diwali and a new year (Samvat 2083) of steady growth. We look forward to what we build together next.
- Happy Diwali, [Name]. Thank you for the quick approvals, the honest feedback and the patience on the tough days. It all mattered.
If you are sending Diwali wishes for clients who mark the Gujarati new year (Bestu Varas, the day after Diwali), message 7 is a nice touch. If you are unsure, leave the Samvat part out.
Diwali message for employees (7 messages)
An employee message should come from a real person, usually the founder, MD or HR head, and should mention the year honestly. If it was a hard year, say so. People notice when a message pretends otherwise.
- This year asked a lot of all of us, and you showed up every time. Thank you. Please take the festival days to rest and be with your family. Happy Diwali.
- Wishing every one of you a Diwali full of light, laughter and good food. None of this year's wins would have happened without you.
- To everyone who stayed late, covered for a colleague or fixed something quietly, we saw it. Happy Diwali and thank you.
- May this Diwali bring you and your loved ones good health, peace and a fresh start. We are proud to work alongside you.
- A small Diwali gift is on its way to your desk (or your home, for those working remotely). It comes with a big thank you from all of us.
- Happy Diwali to our teams in the office and at home. Distance never showed in your work this year. Enjoy the break, you have earned it.
- As we close another year, thank you for your hard work and your good humour. Wishing you and your family a safe and happy Diwali.
Diwali wishes for your team (5 messages)
For managers writing to the people they work with every day. Keep these lighter than a company-wide note.
- Team, thank you for an amazing year. Switch off your laptops, eat too many sweets and come back rested. Happy Diwali.
- Happy Diwali to the best team I have worked with. Q3 was tough and you made it look easy.
- Wishing you all a bright Diwali. No calls, no decks, no "quick sync" till Monday. That is a promise.
- Thank you for the late nights, the early mornings and the good chai breaks in between. Have a wonderful Diwali with your families.
- May your Diwali be as full as our project tracker was this year. Happy Diwali, everyone.
Formal corporate Diwali wishes (5 messages)
Use these for emails to senior leaders, bankers, auditors or new clients you have not met yet.
- On behalf of everyone at [company], we extend our warm wishes to you and your family for a happy and prosperous Diwali. We value our association and look forward to continuing it in the year ahead.
- Dear [Name], wishing you a Diwali of good health, prosperity and success. Thank you for your continued support of [company].
- Please accept our sincere greetings on the occasion of Diwali. We are grateful for your partnership and wish you a year of growth and good fortune.
- Season's greetings from all of us at [company]. May the festival of lights bring you and your organisation continued success.
- Wishing you and your team a happy Diwali and a successful year ahead. It has been a privilege to work with you, and we look forward to the year to come.
Message 4 works well for mixed or international client lists, where some recipients may not celebrate Diwali.
Short Diwali wishes for WhatsApp (5 messages)
- Happy Diwali, [Name]. Thank you for a great year.
- Wishing you light, sweets and a long weekend. Happy Diwali.
- Shubh Deepavali to you and your family.
- Happy Diwali. Grateful to have you in our corner this year.
- Wishing you a safe, bright and happy Diwali, [Name].
A few rules for business WhatsApp messages
- Type the person's name. A message with a name gets a reply; a forwarded image usually doesn't.
- Send greetings only to people who have shared their number with you for business. If you use a WhatsApp Business account, its Business Messaging Policy requires opt-in permission and asks you to respect anyone who wants to stop receiving messages.
- Keep the greeting and any offer in one message, or leave the offer out entirely. A Diwali wish followed by a sales pitch reads as an advertisement.
- Avoid sending after 10 pm.
How to make a copy-paste message sound like you
Here is how we would personalise any message above in under a minute:
- Add one specific detail. A project, a city, a moment. "Thank you for the Hyderabad rollout" does more work than any adjective.
- Use their name and yours. Sign off as a person, not "Team XYZ", for anyone you deal with directly.
- Match their language. If you usually speak Marathi, Gujarati or Hindi with a client, write the first line in that language. It feels thoughtful, not unprofessional.
- Keep it inclusive. Not everyone on your list celebrates Diwali. "Wishing you a happy festive season" is safe for a mixed list.
Pairing your message with a gift
For most contacts, a good message is enough. For top clients and your team, a small gift with a line written in your own hand makes it land properly. In our own business we keep Diwali notes short and specific, and that is how we wrote the 30 above.
If you are looking for ideas beyond what we make, our guide to Diwali gifts for clients that won't get regifted covers options across budgets. If you want something healthier than a mithai box, our corporate Diwali gift hampers range from ₹745 to ₹1,605. Three options for different lists:
- Emerald Canopy Healthy Snack Gift Hamper, ₹745: coconut chips made from coconuts grown on our family estate in Sindhudurg, coffee cookies and peri peri almonds. A sensible pick for whole teams.
- Crimson Canopy Reserve Gourmet Client Hamper, ₹1,215: chatpata cashews, coffee cookies, oats and almond bites, and coconut chips. Built for client gifting.
- Midnight Bloom Grande Premium Gift Hamper, ₹1,605: six treats including our coconut sugar, almond butterscotch ladoos and oats cookies. Our pick for senior leaders and key clients.
All our hampers contain nuts, so check for allergies before you send. Orders placed before 5 PM IST ship the same day, and delivery outside Maharashtra usually takes 3 to 5 days (see our shipping policy). If you need gifts in hand before Dhanteras on 6 November, add a few days' buffer on top of that for festival-week courier traffic.
Frequently asked questions
What should I write in a Diwali message to a client?
Thank them for something specific from the year, wish them and their family a happy Diwali, and sign with your own name. Two to four lines is enough. Skip any sales pitch.
When should I send Diwali wishes to clients in 2026?
Between Wednesday 4 and Saturday 7 November works best, since Diwali is on Sunday 8 November and most offices will wind down by Friday 6 November. Messages sent earlier get read; those sent on Diwali night often get lost among forwards.
Is it okay to send Diwali wishes on WhatsApp to clients?
Yes, if you already talk to that client on WhatsApp. Send a personal, typed message with their name rather than a forwarded image, and for formal relationships send an email first and keep WhatsApp for a short follow-up.
Your next step
Make a quick list of your top 10 clients and your team, pick one message for each group, and add one specific line to every message. If you'd like to send a gift with it, browse our Diwali hampers for clients and employees, or share your requirement on WhatsApp at +91 81049 05922 and we'll confirm what's possible for your quantity and dates.
