The best Diwali gifts for dealers are ones the whole shop can share, that arrive before Dhanteras, and that look the same in value across every partner of the same tier. For most brands that means a good food hamper for the counter, something useful for the owner's home or puja, and a fair budget ladder from small retailers up to your key distributors.
Below is how we would plan Diwali gifts for dealers this year, with real numbers, a few ideas beyond hampers, and one tax rule your accounts team should know about.
Why dealer gifting is different from client gifting
A corporate client usually receives your gift at a reception desk and takes it home. A dealer's gift lands in a working shop or godown, often on the busiest week of their year. The owner, his son who handles billing, and two or three counter staff will all see it, and most likely all eat from it.
That changes three things. First, quantity matters more than polish: a box that can be opened and passed around beats a single fancy object. Second, consistency matters. Dealers in the same market talk to each other, and if one retailer in Masjid Bunder gets a bigger box than his neighbour with similar offtake, you will hear about it. Third, timing is tight, because from Dhanteras onwards the owner barely has time to receive a courier, let alone call you to say thanks.
A simple budget ladder by partner tier
It helps to group your channel into three or four tiers. The figures below are a starting point, not a rule. Adjust them to your margins and to how many partners sit in each tier.
| Partner tier | Typical recipient | Suggested spend per partner | What works |
|---|---|---|---|
| Retailers and sub-dealers | Kirana, chemist or hardware counter with modest monthly offtake | ₹500 to ₹900 | One shareable snack or sweet box for the counter |
| Dealers | Regular stockists in a city or district | ₹900 to ₹2,000 | A larger hamper, or a hamper plus a small puja item |
| Distributors and super stockists | Regional partners who handle your supply chain | ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 | Hamper for the office plus something for the owner's home |
| Top 10 to 20 partners | Your biggest volume and longest relationships | ₹5,000 and above | A personal visit with a premium gift, not just a courier |
One practical tip: decide the tiers on last year's numbers before you look at gift catalogues. When the list comes first, the budget stays honest.
12 Diwali gift ideas for dealers and distributors
These distributor gift ideas are grouped by who will use them. Not all of these come from us. A good list should have a mix, and the right answer depends on your trade and region.
For the shop counter
- A sweet-and-savoury hamper. Cookies, roasted nuts and chips get opened on the spot and shared through the day. Savoury items also last longer than mithai in a warm shop.
- A dry fruit box. The classic for a reason. Check the weight, not just the box size, because some packs are mostly packaging.
- Tea or coffee packs with a set of steel tumblers. Every dealer offers chai to visitors. This gets used for months.
- A box for the staff. Small, separate snack packs for the counter boys and delivery staff. They rarely get remembered, and they are the ones who push your product when a customer asks for a recommendation.
For the owner's home and puja
- Brass or copper diyas. Many traders do Lakshmi Puja in the shop itself, so diyas get used that very evening.
- A new account book or chopda set. In Gujarati and Marwari trading families, new books are worshipped at Diwali. If your dealers follow the custom, this is thoughtful and inexpensive. Ask your local sales team first.
- A puja thali set. Choose a simple steel or brass design that suits any household.
- A kitchen pantry staple. Good-quality ghee, honey or an unrefined sweetener goes home to the family and gets noticed there.
For distributors and top partners
- A premium hamper with a pantry item. Something that lasts beyond the festival week keeps your name in their kitchen.
- A small appliance for the office. A kettle, an air purifier or a good water dispenser for the godown office.
- Silver coins. Traditional and valued, but they add up quickly and count towards the tax threshold below.
- Time. For your top partners, a visit from a senior person in your company before Dhanteras matters more than anything in the box.
Our hampers that suit channel partner gifts
If you are gifting a dealer network, these three of ours fit best. All prices are current on our store, and every hamper below contains nuts, so check with partners who have allergies.
Crimson Canopy Reserve, ₹1,215
Our main pick for dealers. The Crimson Canopy Reserve gourmet client hamper has Chatpata Cashews (100g), Coffee Cookies (70g), Oats & Almond Bites with palm jaggery (80g) and Vanilla / Toasted Coconut Chips (75g). It is mostly savoury and crunchy, so it works in a shop where people snack through a long day, and it sits comfortably in the dealer tier of the table above.
Emerald Canopy, ₹745
For retailers and sub-dealers, the Emerald Canopy healthy snack hamper holds Vanilla / Toasted Coconut Chips (55g), Coffee Cookies (70g) and Peri Peri Almonds (100g). It is the one we would choose when you need to cover a long list without the per-unit cost running away.
Midnight Bloom Grande, ₹1,605
For distributors, the Midnight Bloom Grande premium hamper is our most generous box: Coconut Sugar (150g), Almond Butterscotch Laddoos (100g), Oreo Oats Cookies (100g), Peri Peri Almonds (100g), Vanilla / Toasted Coconut Chips (75g) and Coconut Millet Pops (55g). The coconut sugar is the part that goes home. It is made from coconut flower nectar on our family's estate in Sindhudurg, which has been with us for five generations, and a pantry item like that gets used long after the sweets are finished. Pair it with a diya set or a personal visit for your top partners.
You can see all of them together in our corporate Diwali gift hampers collection.
The tax rule to check before you send: Section 194R (now Section 393)
This is the part most gifting lists leave out. Since July 2022, a business that gives a benefit or perquisite to a resident in connection with that person's business may have to deduct TDS at 10% if the total value given to that person crosses ₹20,000 in a financial year. CBDT's Circular No. 12 of 2022 gives examples such as gold coins, TVs and target-linked trips, and says plain sales discounts and rebates are not covered. Under the Income-tax Act, 2025, which came into force on 1 April 2026, this provision now sits in Section 393 with the same rate and threshold, as this FY 2026-27 explainer summarises.
A ₹1,215 hamper on its own will not come near ₹20,000. The catch is the yearly total. If the same distributor also gets a dealer-meet trip, a target scheme reward and a silver coin, the numbers can add up. Ask your accounts team to track gift value per partner across the year, and check the treatment with your CA before you finalise the list. GST on gifts is a separate question, and your CA is the right person for that too.
Getting it there on time
In 2026, Dhanteras falls on Friday 6 November and Lakshmi Puja on Sunday 8 November, according to Drik Panchang's Diwali calendar. For dealers, aim to have gifts delivered by the end of the previous week. Once the Dhanteras rush starts, a courier at the shutter is easy to miss.
- Get delivery addresses confirmed by your area sales managers. Market addresses like "Shop 14, near the temple" are a common reason for failed deliveries.
- Note the shop's weekly off day. Many markets close one day a week, and a delivery attempt on that day is wasted.
- Add a phone number for the person who will actually be at the counter, not only the owner.
- Keep a short list of five or six spare hampers for partners your team forgot to add.
From our side, orders placed before 5 PM IST ship the same day from Navi Mumbai, and delivery outside Maharashtra usually takes 3 to 5 days, as set out in our shipping policy. For larger dealer lists, send us your quantities and cities on WhatsApp and we will confirm what is possible before you commit. Our corporate Diwali gifting timeline has a week-by-week plan if you are starting now.
Frequently asked questions
How much should a company spend on Diwali gifts for dealers?
There is no fixed figure. A workable starting point is ₹500 to ₹900 per small retailer and ₹900 to ₹2,000 per regular dealer, with more for distributors and key partners. Base the tiers on last year's business so the spend feels fair across the network.
Is TDS applicable on Diwali gifts given to dealers?
It can be. TDS at 10% applies when the total value of benefits to one resident business partner crosses ₹20,000 in a financial year, now under Section 393 of the Income-tax Act, 2025 (earlier Section 194R). Individuals and HUFs giving the gift are exempt if their turnover or receipts are below the prescribed limits, so confirm the details with your CA.
Should dealers and their staff get the same gift?
Not necessarily the same, but the staff should get something. A small snack pack for counter and delivery staff costs little and is remembered, because they are usually left out.
Are food hampers a good idea for distributors with allergies or dietary rules?
Ask first. All our hampers contain nuts, and some families avoid certain ingredients during festivals. Your local sales team usually knows, and a quick check saves an awkward gift.
