If you are comparing healthy corporate gift hampers for this Diwali, here is the short version: most companies are moving away from mithai boxes for three practical reasons. Sweets have a short shelf life, they travel badly to a hybrid team, and a good share of them get quietly passed on. A snack-and-pantry hamper fixes all three without costing more.
We pack and ship gift hampers from Mahape MIDC in Navi Mumbai, and the questions HR and admin teams ask us have changed a lot in the last two years. This is what we have learned from those conversations, and how we would choose if we were sitting on your side of the table.
Why the mithai box stopped working for offices
Start with shelf life, because it decides everything else. Since 1 June 2020, FSSAI has required sweet shops to display the date of manufacture and a best-before date on non-packaged sweets sold loose, following its direction of February 2020 (summary of the FSSAI direction). Look at those labels on a khoya or chhena mithai and you will usually see a window of two to four days. That is fine for a box you hand over at a family dinner. It is not fine for a gift that reaches a reception desk on Friday evening and sits there until Monday.
Then there is distribution. In 2020 you handed out boxes in an office. Now a Mumbai company with 80 people might have 25 of them in Pune, Bengaluru or a village in Konkan on festival leave, and those gifts go by courier. Mithai does not survive that journey. Dry snacks and sealed jars do.
The third reason is simply that one sweet box does not suit a whole team. The ICMR-INDIAB study, published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology in June 2023, estimated diabetes prevalence in India at over 11% and prediabetes at 15.3% (report on the study). Add colleagues who are fasting, dieting or just tired of sweets by Day 3 of the festival, and a 500g kaju katli box is a gift a sizeable part of your team will hand to the security guard. No judgement there, we have done it ourselves.
Mithai box vs healthy hamper, side by side
| What matters to you | Traditional mithai box | Healthy gourmet hamper |
|---|---|---|
| Usable window after delivery | Often 2 to 4 days | Typically 4 to 6 months on baked and roasted items |
| Courier to home addresses | Risky outside the same city | Travels well in sealed jars and pouches |
| Suits most of the team | Sweet only | Sweet, savoury and a pantry item |
| Order timing | Must land within a day or two of the festival | Can be placed and delivered a week ahead |
| Remembered after Diwali | Rarely | If it includes something they keep using, yes |
The timing row is the one procurement teams underrate. With mithai you are forced into a one-day delivery window at the busiest moment of the year for every courier in the country. With a hamper you can take delivery on 1 November and distribute calmly.
What actually goes into a hamper people finish
After a few festive seasons of packing these, our rule of thumb is three parts.
One pantry item they keep using
This is the part that makes the gift last past the week. Coconut sugar is our own example, because we make it from the flower nectar of coconut palms on our family's fifth-generation estate in Sindhudurg, about 500 km down the coast from Mumbai, where the family looks after around 2,700 coconut trees. But the principle holds for any good olive oil, honey or spice blend. Someone opens it in December and remembers where it came from.
One savoury thing
Spiced nuts, millet pops, baked crackers. In our experience this is the first item finished in an office pantry, and it is the item that saves the hamper for people who do not eat sweets.
One sweet, in a sensible portion
Keep the festive feeling. Just do not make 70% of the box sugar. Ten ladoos or a jar of cookies reads as generous without being the fourth sweet box someone has received that week.
Two more things worth checking before you sign off on any vendor: that the ingredient list is printed in full, and that the FSSAI licence number is on the pack. Ours is 11520015000223. Also note that all our hampers contain nuts, so if anyone on your list has a nut allergy, tell your vendor at the order stage rather than after the boxes go out.
Healthy gifts for employees, by budget
Here is roughly how the price bands work, with live prices from our range as reference points.
| Budget per person | What you can send | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Under ₹500 | A single premium item, such as Almond & Jaggery Cookies at ₹330 or Oats & Almond Bites at ₹250 | Large frontline teams, interns, vendor staff |
| ₹700 to ₹900 | A three-item hamper in a gift box | The standard employee gift for most mid-sized companies |
| ₹1,000 to ₹1,300 | A four-item sweet-and-savoury hamper | Clients, channel partners, senior individual contributors |
| ₹1,500 and above | A six-item hamper with a pantry staple | Key accounts, board members, leadership |
If you want the reasoning behind these numbers in more detail, we wrote a separate piece on how much to spend on Diwali gifts per employee.
Three hampers we send most often to offices
These are the three that companies come back for, and the ones we would point you to first in our healthy corporate gift hampers range.
Emerald Canopy, ₹745
Our easiest hamper to send at scale. Inside: Vanilla or Toasted Coconut Chips (55g), Coffee Cookies (70g) and Peri Peri Almonds (100g). Two savoury items and one sweet, which is why it works across a whole floor without anyone feeling left out. See the Emerald Canopy healthy snack hamper.
Crimson Canopy Reserve, ₹1,215
Built for client gifting. Chatpata Cashews (100g), Coffee Cookies (70g), Oats & Almond Bites (80g) with palm jaggery and seeds, and Coconut Chips (75g). It has a story attached, which matters when a relationship manager is handing it over in person. The Crimson Canopy Reserve is our most common pick for distributors and channel partners.
Midnight Bloom Grande, ₹1,605
Six items, including 150g of our coconut sugar, Almond Butterscotch Ladoos (100g), Oreo Oats Cookies (100g), Peri Peri Almonds (100g), Coconut Chips (75g) and Coconut Millet Pops (55g). This is the one we send when the recipient is a senior leader or an account you really do not want to lose. The Midnight Bloom Grande is the only one in our range with the pantry item included.

Working backwards from the festival dates
Diwali 2026 falls on Sunday, 8 November, with Dhanteras on Friday, 6 November and Bhai Dooj on Tuesday, 10 November (Diwali calendar). If you are planning healthy Diwali corporate gifts this year, work backwards from those dates. Most offices distribute in the last working week before Dhanteras, which in 2026 means the week of 2 to 6 November.
- Lock your headcount and address list by mid-October. This is the step that slips, every single year.
- Order samples before you commit to a quantity. Taste it yourself.
- Place the main order with enough room ahead of 2 November. For single orders, our shipping policy is that anything placed before 5 PM IST ships the same day, and delivery outside Maharashtra usually takes three to five days.
- For bulk quantities, timelines depend on the batch. Share your requirement on WhatsApp at +91 81049 05922 and we will confirm what is realistic for your date.
Frequently asked questions
Are healthy corporate gift hampers more expensive than mithai boxes?
Not usually, at the same weight. In our experience a decent mithai box from a known Mumbai sweet shop sits in much the same range as a three-item snack hamper. The difference is that the hamper does not have to be eaten within the week, so less of it is wasted.
What is a sensible per-employee budget?
For most Indian companies, ₹700 to ₹1,000 per employee is the band we see most often, with a higher tier for clients and leadership. Budget is less about the number than about consistency, so decide your tiers first and then pick within them.
How long do the snacks keep?
Our baked and roasted items generally carry a four to six month best-before window from the manufacturing date, which is printed on each pack. Check the pack for the exact date, since we make in small batches rather than holding long stock.
Can we send hampers to employees working from home in different cities?
Share the address list and quantity with us on WhatsApp and we will confirm what is possible for your order and your timeline. Build in three to five days for delivery outside Maharashtra, and more during the festival rush.
What if someone on the team has a nut allergy?
Tell us at the order stage. All our hampers contain nuts, so that person needs a different box rather than a swapped item, and that is much easier to arrange before packing than after.
A simple next step
Pick one tier, order one hamper for yourself, and open it the way your employee or client would. If it feels like something you would be happy to receive, order the rest. If it does not, you have spent ₹745 and saved yourself a bad gifting season.
When you are ready, browse our corporate gift hampers for employees and clients, or send your headcount and date to hello@goodgraze.in and we will come back with options.
